Will Eat Itself Preview |

| |
Poppies
on patrol were ecstatic to find out that their favorite
band--Pop
Will Eat Itself--reformed after a multi-year hiatus
to play some U.K. gigs as part of the "Reformation"
mini-tour. The response was phenomenal, and the results
of those shows can be purchased in CD and DVD form.
Afterwards, rumors persisted that PWEI might be recording
new material.
This rumor became reality on 11/4/05 when PWEI released
a 10 minute teaser of the upcoming unnamed album. Upon
multiple listens, the one minute snippets reveal a return
to older styles circa "Box Frenzy" and "This
Is The Day..."

| The
Future of Bauhaus |
11.13.05 |
| |

From
Release
Magazine:
There have been some Bauhaus future plan announcements
in the past, but none so relevant as now. For many, this
archetype UK gothic band died July 5, 1983 after their
set at Hammersmith Palais, London.
The
current rise of Bauhaus started with a performance at
the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival at Indio,
California, in April this year. This also brought on a
warm-up gig in a nearby club.
–
The Coachella experience was nerve wrecking, but we got
it together after the first few numbers, drummer Kevin
Haskins tells me over the phone from Los Angeles. I talked
to him before the new "Near the Atmosphere"
tour start in Vancouver a while ago.
The
Coachella audience was the largest the quartet ever played
in front of.
–
I feel more at home in smaller club venues, Haskins confesses.
He
is "very excited" to be with the band again,
on tour as a unit.
In
a May 2002 interview with Release, Bauhaus singer Peter
Murphy remarked not to be too surprised if Bauhaus returned
again after the 1998 "Resurrection" tour. He
confirmed their musical relationship:
–
They're my brothers, those guys. I love'em.
The
only new-era Bauhaus song released so far is "The
Dog's a Vapour", made specifically for the "Heavy
Metal 2000" film soundtrack.
Once
the current "Near the Atmosphere" tour, which
seems to continue through next year with a return to Europe
in January, is complete, the intention is to record new
material.
On
the new recordings, Haskins says he'll go with "a
more organic" traditional drum sound than turning
to electronics. He's been experimenting lately with a
Synare percussion synth device.
Finally,
something about Haskins work outside Bauhaus. Together
with musical production partner Doug DeAngelis (Love and
Rockets, Nine Inch Nails, Pet Shop Boys), he has been
scoring motion picture and TV music in the Los Angeles
area under the label Messy Music. He mentions film "Employee
of the Month" (2004) as one of their better works
to catch, though the pair also worked on goth franchise
"The Crow III". Messy Music has created recorded
music under their own name including tracks with special
guests like Flea from The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Ebb Reunited? |

From Side-Line:
In a chat with Side-Line, Douglas McCarthy has confirmed
last Friday the rumours that the band is to reunite for
a few selected live dates. The final okay for the reunion
tour was given "by both Bon Harris and me when we
met in Chicago earlier last week", Douglas said.
There will only be a few selected dates and before you
all start dreaming, the band has not yet started work
on new material. Or "no, not yet...", as McCarthy
puts it. It is expected that the band will take the opportunity
to record and film live material. Only one date is sure
yet: the Wave Gotik Treffen 2006. The gigs are booked
by Neuwerk, a new German booking agency that was started
by former employees of Protain and that already has Fixmer/McCarthy
under its wings.

Nation In-Store |
6.1.05 |

Ronan
from VNV
Nation recently did an in-store appearance at Ozone
UK in Portland Oregon before taking the stage later
that night during the Formation Tour 2005.
Needless to say, I was a bit star-struck and couldn't
think of anything interesting to say, except to blab on
a bit on how much I loved his band and how long I'd been
waiting to see him in concert (my Pastperfect
DVD is getting worn out!)
Ronan seemed genuinely appreciative of my fanboy gushing
(strangely enough) and was good enough to sign my "Matter
+ Form" CD...

Fortunately
I did manage to "pop the question" (so to speak)
regarding doing an interview of sorts on this very website.
I was a bit nervous to do so, and I know Ronan is a busy
guy with the tour and other interview commitments waiting
for him when he gets home--but miracle of miracles he
agreed after things have quieted down a bit! This made
me very happy, as it has been a dream of sorts to get
the opportunity to interview such a high profile and infuential
artist such as himself. I'm definitely going to use the
time I have available to put together the most captivating
and thought-provoking interview I can muster so this whole
thing will eventually come to fruition.

Posted by Mrs. Al Jorgenson:
"Hello
Everyone!
sorry for the silence. it's been busy around here!
wanted to update y'all on what is going on, but first
want to apologize to the pissants who have sent me private
messages. for some reason, i am unable to post replies
to y'all. i will work it out with afra and get back to
you soon.
Well, first off, Al just completed a re-mix of
The Melvins/Jello Biafra project, a track entitled: "Enchanted
Fist Thought." Then he was working on some
interesting theme songs for two TV shows. Al calls it
"cop rock." I'll tell you more about this if/when
these projects move forward.
Next up, Al is producing a young musician, songwriter,
producer from Detroit Spyder Baby (see www.spyderbaby.net),
and just finished a remix of a track entitled "Bitter."
Then, Mr. Gibby Haynes came to Hell Paso for a spell,
and he and Al and Mike Scaccia and Ginger Baker (ooops
I mean Mark Baker) worked together in the studio for 10
days. It was awesome! I'll keep you posted on where all
of that will lead as things unfurl themselves.
Unfortunately, our agent in Europe could not make a tour
happen for Ministry this summer, which totally SUCKS and
bummed me out for quite a while, but everything happens
for a reason, and it looks like Al will spend the summer
in the studio working on some new stuff for a couple of
projects, so it is all good.
In the next little while, Ministry Evil Doer Tour swag
will be available at the eStore, so if you missed us on
tour in the States, you will still have a chance to capture
the T-Shirt. ha ha!
And what a FANTASTIC tour it was, and we are so grateful
to all of the pissants who came out and showed their support
of Ministry, and to everyone who made it backstage, or
the tour bus to say hello and introduce yourselves. We
are especially grateful to the pissants who volunteered
to man the voter registration booths at each show. You
REALLY made a difference and we are very proud of the
enthusiasm of our pissants who responded to this call
to arms.
We cannot WAIT to get back on the road again, but it won't
probably be until next year, the Year of the Dog (which
is Al's chinese astrological sign).
2005 is showing itself to be a great year, and
after all, it is the Year of the Cock (and that's all
I'm gonna say for right now).
So between Cocks and Dogs, you shall be hearing and seeing
more of Al."

This high-quality bootleg has been making its presence felt
across the P2P networks as of late. You can also find subsequent
shows available as well. Looking at the setlists from the
various shows, it looks like Trent in going to mix things
up a bit! That's nice to see for folks who are shelling
out the big money to attend multiple shows. People who have
been turned off by the newer material will also be pleased
that there is plenty of old material in the mix (including
"Burn"!) |
